Bio

D. H. Eraldi

Born and raised in Northern California, Doris was lucky to grow up in a family of creative, adventuresome people. As a child, she traveled extensively around the Western US and Canada with her family, including road trips to Alaska when the AlCan was still unpaved, backpacking in British Columbia and numerous jeep trips to her favorite place; the Great Basin area and high deserts in Nevada. Her early love of horses grew into a career, as she began training professionally as a teen. She has worked extensively with Western performance horses and youth riders, coaching young riders to regional and state championships.

She has always loved to write, and wrote her first “book” in first grade. She began publishing essays and poetry in the 1980’s. Her first novel, SETTLER’S LAW (Berkeley, 1999) is a Western Historical set in Montana Territory in 1883. The sequel, SETTLER’S CHASE, was published in 2010, and was named a Women Writing the West WILLA Literary Award Finalist in 2011. She currently edits and writes for two monthly online magazines, and does web design from her home in Mendocino County, California, where she lives on a small ranch with her partner, horses and dogs.
